William D. Clements

William D. Clements of Pelham, New York, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026. He was 86 years old.

Born in Rensselaer, New York, to Kenneth and Theresa Clements, William was the youngest of their two children.

William graduated from St. John's Academy High School and received his B.A. in History from Siena College. Before earning his M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, he served for three years in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, where he commanded a missile unit and developed a lifelong love of European travel and good German beer.

In 1968, William and his brother, Ken, crashed a party in the Hamptons where he met the love of his life, Judith Martin, who would be his best friend and soulmate for the next 57 years. They married in 1969 and soon settled in Pelham, where they built a loving home and raised their two children, David and Sarah. Together they traveled the world and shared countless adventures and cherished memories with their wonderful circle of friends in Pelham and on Wynnewood Rd.

William had a strong head for numbers and enjoyed a distinguished career in investment banking spanning several decades, most notably at Drexel Burnham Lambert during the firm's years of extraordinary success. His work took him to the financial capitals of Europe and the Middle East, and he always made time to savor the local cuisine over a celebratory meal after closing a major deal.

Outside of his professional life, William embraced adventure and the outdoors, whether on the hiking trail, the ski slope, or the squash court. An avid hiker and mountaineer, he graduated from the Exum School of Mountaineering in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and explored many of the world's great mountain ranges, culminating in his successful ascent of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe. Alongside his love of the outdoors, William's greatest passions were literature and wine, and there was nothing he enjoyed more than discussing the former over a glass of the latter.

Above all else, William was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was immensely proud of his children, and in recent years his greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as "Grandpa Bill." For all his love of travel and adventure, he was never happier than when he was at home surrounded by his family.

William will be remembered for his great sense of humor, keen wit, ready friendship, epicurean spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the love he shared.

William is survived by his loving children, David (Megumi) Clements and Sarah (Steve) Page; and by his cherished grandchildren, Mason, Owen, and Vesper. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Judith Clements.

A celebration of William’s life will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home, located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York, on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.A Funeral Service will be held  at Huguenot Memorial Church, located at, 901 Pelhamdale Avenue, Pelham, New York, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
