Veronica Malone of the Bronx passed away on March 22, 2026. She was 88 years old. Born in the Bronx to Joseph and Helen Boyle, Veronica was one of four children. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse, and friend, she leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Born on January 8, 1938, Veronica grew up surrounded by family and carried those deep-rooted values of loyalty, compassion, and resilience throughout her life.
Veronica dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a registered nurse, including her time at St. Dominic’s. Her compassion, gentle presence, and commitment to helping others defined both her career and her character.
She spent many cherished years living in Locust Point, where she built a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter and love. In retirement, she and her husband, Donald, enjoyed splitting their time between Margate, Florida—surrounded by dear lifelong friends—and the New York/New Jersey area, where she remained close to her growing family.
Veronica will be remembered for her kindness, her sense of humor, and the deep love she gave so freely. Her presence was a constant source of comfort and joy, and her absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Veronica is survived by her children: Helen (Joseph) Virgone; Donald (Tina) Malone; John (Toni) Malone; Mary (James) Scully; Patricia (Frank) Pintauro; Ann (Robert) Pintuaro; Claire (Dennis) Cavalli; and James Malone. She will be deeply missed by her 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom knew her as “Nanny” and “Gigi”—titles she wore with immense pride and joy. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Marie Malone, as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Veronica was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Malone, in June 2020. Their enduring partnership was a testament to love, friendship, and shared devotion to family. She was also predeceased by her dear siblings and extended family: her brother, John, and sister-in-law, Mary; her sister, Helen, and her husband, John Held; her sister, Claire, and her husband, George Held; her sister-in-law, Sr. Mary Malone; and her nephews, George and Joseph.
A Celebration of Veronica’s life will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham New York on Tuesday April 7th from 4-8PM. A Mass will take place at Church of the Annunciation located at 50 W. Midland Avenue, Paramus, New Jersey on Wednesday April 8th at 11:00 PM.
