Sheila G. Lamont

Sheila G. (nee McManus) Lamont passed away peacefully in Trumbull, CT at the age of 92 on December 18, 2022.  

She was born in the Bronx, NY on October 14, 1930.  After her education, she excelled as a private secretary, meeting Thomas F. Lamont, the love of her life, and marrying him on October 24, 1953.  Together they raised three daughters, creating a loving home for them, and having many wonderful life adventures.  The beaches of Rockaway, NY, Lavallette N.J., Hampton Bays, NY and Bermuda were favorite family destinations, providing much joy and laughter through the years. 

Sheila’s creativity was very apparent in her talent for designing and sewing clothing for her family.  Upon her return to the workforce, she moved quickly through the sales and administrative ranks at Macy’s Dept. Store in Parkchester, NY.  She and Tom were very active in St. Raymond’s Parish in the Bronx for many years, donating countless hours of time and forming life-long friendships.  

They enjoyed traveling to far-off places in their retirement years, as well as visiting family throughout New York, Connecticut and Colorado.  After their daughters were grown, Tom and Sheila moved from the Bronx to Pelham Manor, NY in the early 1980’s, continuing to be active members of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help community.

Sheila is pre-deceased by her husband Thomas (2019) and her grandson, Daniel Tyo (2018).  She is survived by her three daughters Barbara (Gerard) Coords, of Fairfield CT., Sheila Lamont of Seattle WA and Monica Lamont of Rochester, NY, grandchildren Monica (Colin) Torrance of Fairfield, CT, Christine (Drew) Kilcoin of Los Angeles, CA, Katie (John) O’Donoghue of Larchmont, NY, Thomas (Jennifer) Potter of Seattle, WA, Jerilyn (Michael) Lacerenza of Fairfield, CT, Michael Tyo of Syracuse, NY, Stephen Coords of Fairfield, CT and Brian (Laurel) Potter of New York, NY, as well as eight great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Sheila's life will take place at Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham NY on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 for an hour starting at 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, located at 559 Pelham Manor Rd, Pelham, NY at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, New York.
