Miriam Mutschler, 97, of Southbury, Connecticut, died peacefully on March 17th, 2012 at Waterbury Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born in 1914 in Sheldon, Iowa, she was the adored daughter of Myrtle and Clad Miller. Miriam graduated from Iowa State University in 1935, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She received an M.S. in Nutrition from the University of Chicago in 1937.

In 1938, Miriam married William J. Mutschler, a chemical engineer with Continental Can Company. They lived in Illinois with their two sons until William's corporate promotion brought them to Mamaroneck, NY, After her husband's untimely passing in a 1959 airplane crash, Miriam nurtured and educated her two young sons, William and John. She later moved to Southbury, CT, taking great joy in volunteering and hosting her family.

Miriam was gifted with a sharp wit, and a generous and loving heart. She will be remembered as a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and as an exceptional homemaker. She handled every challenge with grace, courage, and resilience. She had an uncanny zest for life and never lost her playful sense of humor, especially with her grandchildren, who will greatly miss their "Mimi."

Miriam is survived by William and Betty Mutschler of New Rochelle, NY, John and Carolyn Mutschler of Hingham, MA, her three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
