Mildred Adassa Lalor

Mildred Adassa Lalor, affectionately known as 'Dassa' departed this life on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the White Plains Hospital, White Plains, NY.
Mildred was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica WI to the late Sophia and Joslyn Lalor. She was one of seven children raised in a loving Christian home. She studied nursing at the Jamaica Public School of Nursing. She worked at several hospitals in Jamaica before migrating to the United States.
For more than 30 years she worked as a Nurse at the Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. She resided in New York for many years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Manhattan for many years.
After retirement she relocated to Florida and worshipped at Marion Oak Assembly Church of God and Maranatha Baptist Church, she was a volunteer in her community, assisting seniors with their daily needs.
After some years in Florida, she moved back to New York and resided in New Rochelle. She often attended the Salvation Army Church a few blocks from her home in New Rochelle, there she developed a special friendship with Captain Daniel and his wife Captain Charlotte and Mary Savage. About a year ago she became ill, these three friends she met at the Salvation Army show her so much love and care, and they would take turns taking her to doctor's appointments. The Captains would travel from Long Island to do so.
Mildred loved to do crossword puzzles, reading, traveling, crocheting and volunteering. The thing that gave her the most pleasure was helping people in need.
She is predeceased by her parents Sophia and Joslyn Lalor three sisters: Thelma Jones, Mavis Lalor and Norma Lane.
She leaves to celebrate her life two brothers, Wesley Lalor and his wife Shervette of Cayman Island, Gerald McLeish his wife Thelma of Jamaica sister Pamella Campbell her husband Kenneth of New Rochelle, brother in law Gilbert Lane of Bronx, and Ismeal Jones of Jamaica. Her loving nieces, nephews, cousins and host of friends.

A Celebration will be held on Saturday October 10, 2020, from 9AM -10AM with A Service , 11AM at the Pelham Funeral Home 64 Lincoln Ave Pelham, NY with Burial to follow at Kensico Cemetery Valhalla, NY
