Mercedes Valera

On the morning of Tuesday, June 1, 2021 Mercedes Valera, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was called home at the age of 79. Mercedes was born on September 26, 1941 in the Dominican Republic to Norma and Rafael Hernandez.

Mercedes was the eldest of 10, where she was more than a sister, she was a second mother to all of her siblings. Mercedes and Manuel had a beautiful love story, they were married for almost 60 years and built an amazing life for not only themselves but their family as well. Mercedes was deeply devoted to her entire family and paved the way for them all.

To know Mercedes is to love and admire the person she was. Mercedes was headstrong, hardworking, family-oriented, brave, graceful, elegant, powerful, resilient, determined and unapologetically herself, a true warrior living life to the fullest.

Mercedes has left an irreplaceable void in the lives and hearts of her loved ones, but she has been reunited with her soulmate. Their legacy will continue to live on through the amazing family they have left behind and their memory will be honored forever. Although Mercedes will be terribly missed, heaven has gained another angel.


En la mañana del martes 1 de junio de 2021 Mercedes Valera, esposa, madre, abuela y bisabuela fue llamada a casa a la edad de 79 años. Mercedes nació el 26 de septiembre de 1941 en República Dominicana de Norma y Rafael Hernández.

Mercedes era la mayor de 10, donde era más que una hermana, era una segunda madre para todos sus hermanos. Mercedes y Manuel tuvieron una hermosa historia de amor, estuvieron casados durante casi 60 años y construyeron una vida increíble no solo para ellos, sino también para su familia. Mercedes estaba profundamente dedicada a toda su familia y allanó el camino para todos.

Conocer a Mercedes es amar y admirar a la persona que fue. Mercedes era testaruda, trabajadora, familiar, valiente, elegante, poderosa, resistente, decidida y sin disculpas, una verdadera guerrera que vivía la vida al máximo.

Mercedes ha dejado un vacío insustituible en la vida y el corazón de sus seres queridos, pero se ha reencontrado con su alma gemela. Su legado seguirá vivo a través de la increíble familia que han dejado atrás y su memoria será honrada para siempre. Aunque se extrañará terriblemente a Mercedes, el cielo ha ganado otro ángel.
