Marjorie C. McDermott, longtime resident of Pelham, NY, died on January 26, 2013 at Willow Towers Residence in New Rochelle, NY. She celebrated her 98th birthday on January 5, 2013
A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at St. Catharine's Church in Pelham, with interment following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
Visiting Hours at Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Margaret Carlisle McDermott, and her brother Walter.
Miss McDermott was employed for many years at Texaco's corporate headquarters in Manhattan and Westchester. She maintained a season subscription to the Metropolitan Opera and enjoyed travelling abroad. An active gardener, she was a member of the New York Botanical Garden, the Orchid Society, the Westchester Rose Society and other horticultural organizations.
