Marilyn T. DiSisto

October 22, 1932 — February 7, 2022

Marilyn T. DiSisto, A lifelong resident of Pelham, NY, passed away on February 7, 2022. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a believer, a guide, a teacher, comforter, and a fighter. She was blessed with an inner strength and persevered regardless of the odds.  She would lend an ear or a shoulder to anyone in need.

Marilyn was born in Mt. Vernon Hospital on October 22, 1932, to Mary and Raymond Chase, was one of three children and is predeceased by her sister Barbara Chase Pevo, brother-in-law Robert Pevo and her brother Raymond Chase.

Marilyn attended Hutchinson Elementary School before graduating from Pelham Memorial High School with honors. While attending High School Marilyn was an avid field hockey player and figure skater.  It was during her High School years she began dating her future husband, Gerald DiSisto. They were married at St. Catherine’s Church in Pelham on May 12, 1951.

Marilyn worked for the Standard Star newspaper prior to becoming the ultimate homemaker. She and her husband raised their four children while Marilyn worked as a bookkeeper in the family business. She dedicated her life to God, her husband, and her children. She was an exceptional cook and baker, and family dinners were important to her. From cooking wild game and seafood to zucchini parm and Sunday gravy, baking cakes, cookies and pies, there wasn’t anything she couldn’t cook or bake. She truly made the DiSisto house a home.

Marilyn also enjoyed helping those in need, whether it being a family member, a friend, or a charity. She was an avid church goer and regularly attended a local prayer group. She was a woman of strong faith and believed actions speak louder than words. In her spare time, she loved to figure skate, ballroom dance with her husband, crochet and knit.

Marilyn will be remembered as a generous lady a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind her husband Gerald, her children Geraldine Redmond, Kathleen Moran, Gary DiSisto, and Linda DiSisto, her two grandchildren: Alexandra Moran and Julia {Jack} Holland, her two great grandchildren; Taliyah and Cienna. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends and by everyone else that knew her.

A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham NY on Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 2PM - 4PM & 6PM -8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St Catharine’s Church located at 25 Second Ave., Pelham, NY on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 10AM.  Interment will follow at Beechwood Cemetery, New Rochelle, NY.
