Marie Josephine Leff

Marie D'Angelo Leff of Bronxville passed away peacefully on January 24th 2017. She was 94 years old. Born at her home in NYC, Marie was raised by her late parents Angela and Nicholas. A woman ahead of her time Marie went to Hunter College and graduated in 1944 with a degree in chemistry. This served her in later years while she worked as a chemist for the American Chemical Company and The Wool Bureau. Her strong work ethic caused her to join her parents' clothing business (D'Angelo Suits & Coats) in the Garment District.They were contractors for many famous designers including Bill Blass, Halston and Carolina Herrera.

She continued to be an independent lady until she met her late husband Herbert Wilson at a resort in the Catskills. In less than a year she was married after a whirlwind romance which continued throughout their whole life. If you missed them at the opera they were probably enjoying their worldwide travels, visiting a museum or spending time at the Bronx Zoo.

Marie was a very active volunteer. She was involved in the Alpha XI Delta Sorority and also the Children of Mary Society of St. Helena's Church in the Bronx. Despite her full-time work schedule she always made time for others especially her one nephew and five nieces.

Marie will be remembered and missed by her identical twin Rosaria, her younger sister Gloria as well as her beloved nieces, nephew, their spouses and their children. Her exceptional cooking will never be forgotten, but her warmth and love will be missed most of all.

A Celebration of Marie's life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home 64 Lincoln Ave. Pelham, NY on Thursday, January 26th from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Catharine's Church, 25 Second Ave. in Pelham on Friday, January 27th at 11:00am. Internment will follow at Holy Mount Cemetery in Eastchester.
