Marie Ann Fatigate

August 13, 1931 — April 15, 2026

Pelham

Marie Fatigate, of Pelham, New York, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, at the age of 94.

Born in Mount Vernon, New York, to August and Concetta Gelardi, Marie was the second oldest of four children. She was raised in Mount Vernon and attended Edison High School, where she was captain of the cheerleading team and a member of the National Honor Society. It was there that she met the love of her life, James Fatigate. The two shared a devoted marriage of 68 years.

Marie and James were married at Mount Carmel Church and, in 1953, settled in Pelham, where they lovingly raised their three children. While Marie worked for a short time outside the home, she dedicated most of her life to her family as a homemaker—a role she embraced with pride and devotion.

She found great joy in cooking and baking, always bringing her family together around the table. Family meals were cherished occasions, often followed by laughter-filled board games. Marie also enjoyed bowling and playing cards, creating lasting memories with her children and loved ones. She was known as an exceptional baker whose treats were enjoyed by all.

Marie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, kindness, and calm nature. Soft-spoken and endlessly patient, she was described by her children as a “living angel”—someone who never raised her voice and always led with love.

She is survived by her beloved children: Robert (Jacqueline) Fatigate, James (Anna Barone) Fatigate, and Carole Fatigate-Brown; her brother, Thomas Gelardi; her sisters, Patricia Varcasia and Corrine Rifelli; and her six cherished grandchildren: Bianca, Brianna, Stephen, Jacquelyn, Sophia, and Nicholas. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Marie was predeceased by her husband, James Fatigate.

A celebration of Marie’s life will be held at Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York, on Tuesday, April 21, from 9:00–11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
