Kathy Ann Touris, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love. Born on April 24, 1954, to John and Gilda Mercurio, Kathy grew up surrounded by family in Mount Vernon, New York, alongside her three siblings.
Kathy lived a life inspired by compassion and service. She gave of herself generously—through a meaningful nursing career and later in retirement—always seeking ways to support and uplift others. Her vibrant spirit touched all who knew her. Kathy was known for her vivacious personality, her endless creativity, and deep empathy. She faced life’s challenges with resilience and strength, never losing her fight, joyful outlook or sense of humor.
A lover of nature, Kathy found peace and inspiration along the shoreline as a devoted beachcomber. She cherished laughter and delighted in a good joke, bringing warmth and light to any room she entered. Her greatest joy, however, was her family—both by blood and by choice.
Kathy is survived by her loving daughters Melissa (David) Vigue and Alexandria Touris, as well as her stepson Jonathan Feinstein, and her (former) spouse of 30 years, Arthur Touris. She was the beloved sister of Lynn Mercurio, Gina (Joseph) DiMartino, and John Mercurio. Kathy took immense pride in being Grandma to her treasured twin granddaughters, Olivia Mae and Lily Marie Vigue, who brought endless joy into her life.
Those who knew Kathy will remember her for her generous heart, her radiant smile, and the love she shared so freely. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.
In honor of Kathy’s life, her family invites you to celebrate her by embracing the people you love, finding joy in simple moments, and, whenever possible, walking barefoot on the beach.
