Kathleen Lyons of Riverdale, New York, passed away on September 10, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Thomas and Elizabeth Lyons, Kathleen was one of seven children. She grew up in Brightwaters, Long Island, attending elementary school in Babylon before continuing her education at Sacred Heart schools in Albany, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
From an early age, Kathleen nurtured a love for art, discovering a lifelong passion for painting. After graduating from boarding schools, she went on to study at Parsons School of Design in New York.
Kathleen had a gift for languages—she spoke French fluently—and was a devoted reader who enjoyed keeping up with world events. She was also a passionate collector, an activist with a strong voice, and someone who delighted in good food and lively conversation.
Known for her generosity and kind spirit, Kathleen loved giving gifts and celebrating others. While she could be strong-willed, she was always memorable, deeply loved her family, and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Kathleen is survived by her siblings: Thomas Lyons and his partner Elene Malonado, Maureen (Theodor) Lyons Kundtz, Elizabeth Lyons Racette, Patrick Lyons, and Michael Lyons. She will be lovingly remembered by her 17 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth, and her brother Andrew.
Kathleen will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
