Joseph Anthony Sudano

Joseph Anthony “Joe” Sudano, age 98, passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2026, In Pelham, New York. He was born on August 13,1927 in New York City to Mary Capazzoli and Pietro Sudano. He was predeceased by his sister Rose Condo, and brothers Anthony, Peter and Louis Sudano. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years Vincenza (“Vi”) Derrico and children Mary Ellen Seaton and her husband Robert of Edison, New Jersey, Peter Sudano and his wife Nancy of Lambertville, New Jersey, Nicholas Sudano and his wife Anita of Centerport, New York, and Angela Lent and her husband Steve of Buck Hill Falls, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his grandchildren Suzanne, Rachel, Joseph, Kathleen, AJ, Andrew, Becca, Michael and Jane, 14 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his dedicated caregiver Katerina.

Joe graduated from Manhattan Aviation in 1945 and served two years in the United States Army. He was president of Bayside Building Materials which he founded with his father and two brothers Anthony and Peter. Joe was an incredibly hard worker who lived a quiet and contented life. Joe enjoyed playing bridge, building intricate doll houses, playing golf and watching the Giants. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Pelham, New York. He will be remembered for his wry sense of humor, his steady demeanor, and his unwavering devotion to his family. His kindness and spirit will be missed by all.

A celebration of Joseph's life will take place at Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY,  on Thursday March 26, 2026,  between the hours of 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm . A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 575 Fowler Avenue, Pelham, NY 10803. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, located at 10 W Stevens Ave, Hawthorne NY 10532.
