John Christal

John L. Christal of New Rochelle passed away on Wednesday, April 6th, 2016. He was 84 years old. Born in Mt. Vernon, New York the youngest of three children to John and Margaret Christal, John was always a kind and generous person who loved sports.

John was raised in Pelham and attended Pelham Schools before heading off to Fordham University. There he would study Accounting and Finance. His degree would lead him to a successful career with Western Union, a commercial and financial leader. Once he retired from Western Union, John took every opportunity to enjoy time with his family. John enjoyed reading about and discussing politics. He could frequently be found watching his favorite sport, baseball, with his beloved cat, Rasputin, on his lap.

John is survived by his sister Kathleen (Christal) Giebel and many loving nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Jeanne.
