John Edward Burke of Pelham passed away on October 6th, 2014. He was born in the Bronx to David and Hannah Burke in March 14th 1919. He attended St. Catharine's school in Pelham and graduated from Pelham Memorial High School
John was married 64 years to his beloved wife Anna at the time of her passing.
He was in the Military Police while he served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945. He served his community as Detective Sergeant in Pelham Manor for many years.
A devote Catholic and a very humble man, he was devoted to his family.
He will be missed by his children: sons Paul and wife Ann and John Jr. and fiancé Maggie, his daughters Cathy Schirmer and husband Joseph, Nancy Vaccaro and Ginger Solano.
A member of the New Rochelle rowing club for years, John loved all things Irish.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Thursday, October 9th from 4-8 PM at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham NY followed by a Mass of Christian burial on Friday at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church located at 559 Pelham Manor Road, Pelham Manor.
