Jeffrey Isaac Montenegro, a resident of the Bronx, NY, passed away on December 3rd, 2021. He was 53 years old. Born in Manhattan, New York to Jose Montenegro and Rita Ramirez. Jeffrey was a retired Detective, 2nd Grade, who worked for the Queens Gang Unit.
Jeffrey was a family man who loved and adored his family. He was a father of four wonderful children: Melanie, Lissette, Jeffrey Jr., and Meagan. Jeffrey loved life and was a people person. He was considered the “George Clooney” of the family. Jeffrey was always a sharp dresser who finished his look off with a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses.
Jeffrey loved to travel back to Ecuador to enjoy his vacation house and enjoyed listening to traditional Ecuadorian music and 80's music. Jeffrey was a sports fan and loved to watch American football, boxing and soccer. His favorite football player was Tom Brady, and favorite boxer was Iron Mike Tyson.
Jeffrey will be remembered as a generous, lovable, hardworking, and family oriented man. He was a prankster and lover of life. He served 20 years with the NYPD in Transit (4yrs) and as an Undercover (16yrs). He enjoyed all aspects of his duties and was proud to be a part of keeping NYC safe from guns and drugs. He enjoyed telling his police war stories. It was he, who inspired his sister, Lillian, to join the NYPD. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Jeffrey is survived by his mother; Rita Ramirez, Step-father Cesar Rivera, his children; Melanie Montenegro, Lissette Montenegro, Jeffrey Montenegro Jr., and Meagan Montenegro, his brother; Jose Louis Montenegro; his sister; Lillian Montenegro and husband Michael Hernandez. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, and nephews.
A celebration of Jeffrey’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York on Thursday, December 9th from 5:00-9:00pm and Friday, December 10th, from 4:00-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Claire of Assisi Church located at 1027 Rhinelander Ave, Bronx, NY on Saturday, December 11th at 10:00am.
