Jane Kathryn Gunther passed away on April 21, 2012 at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Jane was born May 13, 1923 to Grace and James E. Casale in NYC. Her family mover to Pelham when she was a young child.
Jane was a graduate of Pelham Memorial High School and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She married Alvin F. Gunther October 26, 1944. Jane lived for 65 years in her home in Pelham, known to many as the Rose House. She loved caring for her extensive rose gardens.
Her husband, Alvin F. Gunther, and their son, Mark James Gunther, predeceased Jane. She is survived by her sister, Grace Nowell (Burton), her daughter, Jacquelyn Grindrod (Roland), granddaughters, Heather Moran (Kevin) and Jodi Grindrod, three great-grandchildren and four nephews.
While her children were young, Jane was a wife, mother and a homemaker who excelled at sewing and knitting. She later added the responsibilities of executive secretary to her day.
Friends may call from 8:30AM to 9:30AM on Thursday at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am at St. Catharine's Church, 25 Second Avenue, Pelham, NY. In lieu of flowers , donations may be made to the SPCA of Westchester
