James Eugene Byrnes

James Eugene Byrnes of New Rochelle, New York, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Friday, February 16, 2018.
Born in New York City to James T. and Marjorie Cummings Byrnes. James was the second eldest of four and was raised in Pelham, NY. He attended St Catharine's Elementary School and Pelham Memorial High School, where he made many lifelong friends. After graduation from the University of Miami he went on to serve his country from 1966 to 1968 in the U.S. Navy at Skaggs Island, CA.
He shared his father's life-long passion for automobiles and worked in the sales, management and ownership of dealerships, from Byrnes-Nolan Dodge, Parkchester Dodge to Toyota-Mazda of Westport among others and continued in automotive sales until his passing.
A former a member of Wykygal Country Club, Jim loved to golf and spend time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed boating, fishing and was an avid Yankees fan.
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Jim leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Beth, his children James (Elizabeth), Jennifer Hackett (Kevin) and Meaghan. He will be deeply missed by his six grandchildren Shane, Reagan, Peyton, Grace, Kieran and James III. He is also survived by his sisters, Rosemary Byrnes-Doyle and Margaret Meighan and his brother, Thomas Byrnes.
A celebration of his life will take place at Pelham Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 20, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral mass will take place at Church of St Pius X in Scarsdale, NY on Wednesday, February 21 at 11:00 AM.
