In Loving Memory of Isabella “Izzy” Marie Persaud

With hearts that are completely broken, we share the passing of our beautiful Isabella “Izzy” Marie Persaud, who left us far too soon at just 15 years old. Born on February 18, 2011, to her loving parents, Maria I. Salgado and Michael B. Persaud, Izzy was a loving daughter and the beloved baby sister of a large family who absolutely adored her. She was a cherished sister to Morelis, Laila, Michael, Anne, Kimberly, and Shazeena. As the youngest on both sides of her family, Izzy grew up surrounded by love and would always be the baby of the family.

 Izzy was incredibly creative and had a gift for bringing her ideas to life. She made beautiful bracelets, was gifted at sketching and painting, played the piano, loved to dance, and expressed her imagination through creative writing.

 Music was a huge part of Izzy’s world. She loved K-pop, especially Stray Kids, and shared an incredible love of concerts with her dad. Together, they attended more than 30 concerts. She also loved listening to her brother Michael’s music and singing his songs.

 Izzy and her mom, Maria, would take walks, pick wildflowers, and turn them into little bouquets. She always wanted to be her “Mama’s helper”, no matter the time of day. Maria remained her safe space through both the good and difficult moments, and Izzy lovingly referred to her mama as her “emotional support.”

 Izzy loved to perform. She, Maria, Morelis, and Laila would dance, bake brownies and make TikToks together. She and Laila especially loved doing their hair together. Morelis and Izzy bonded over Pokémon, cuphead, anime, and disney movie nights. Izzy also loved being a Titi to Miell, a role that brought a new special kind of love into her life. 

Izzy treasured her relationships with her sisters. When Laila once asked how it felt to have her as a sister, she expected a sarcastic, sisterly response. Instead, Izzy answered, “It feels empowering.” It was a simple statement her sisters will carry forever, as being Izzy’s sibling was just as much a privilege and an honor for them. 

With Anne, it was the little moments that made their relationship so special: talks about life, identity, and self-expression; TikTok dances; karaoke at Grandma’s; shared laughter; and simply snuggling together on the couch. On a trip to Las Vegas to visit their brother Michael, a plan to grab something to eat turned into a late-night sister adventure with In-N-Out burgers, loaded fries, milkshakes, and plenty of laughter.

Kimberly and Izzy bonded over Izzy’s cool sense of fashion and their shared love of Korean food, often going out with their dad to find the best ramen and fried rice. Kimberly always called Izzy her “big little sister” because, despite being the younger one, Izzy towered over her, even when Kimberly wore heels, something they always laughed about.

 Izzy had an adventurous spirit. She loved water parks, roller coasters, anime, Korean food, plushies, and the excitement of trying something fun.

 She treasured her friendships just as deeply. Izzy gave the best hugs and knew how to be there for the people she cared about. She was a confidant and the true definition of a best friend, someone others could trust, talk to, and simply be themselves with.

 Her circle of love extended throughout her family and friendships. She shared special bonds with her cousin Serenity, Lymus and Elias along with so many others. Izzy and Serenity loved getting fro-yo and collecting posters together. She loved sleepovers with her Titi Millie, she also loved her Titi Amalia playing in the backyard with her cousin Mema picking strawberries.

Izzy was incredibly bright and a wonderful student, but there was so much more to her than what she could accomplish. Fifteen years of a beautiful life cannot be summed up in a few paragraphs. She was a daughter, granddaughter, little sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and best friend. She was an artist, musician, creator, and adventurer. She was smart, talented, funny, imaginative, and so very loved. 

So much of the love between Izzy and her family lived in simply being together. 

More than anything, we want the world to know just how loved Isabella was. 

We would give anything for more time to hear her laugh again, watch her create something new, hear about the next concert she wanted to attend, or simply have our beautiful girl here with us.

 Fifteen years could never have been enough. There will always be a place in our family that belongs only to Izzy. We will carry her with us in the music she loved, the art she created, the memories she gave us, and every story we continue to tell about her.

 Izzy, you were our beautiful girl and an irreplaceable part of our family. We will miss you beyond what words can express, and we will love you for the rest of our lives. We will continue to celebrate you by doing the things you loved and carrying pieces of your joy, creativity, and adventurous spirit with us wherever we go.
