Helen Caparis

Helen Caparis (Hall) of Pelham, NY passed away on October 3, 2023.  She was 84 years old.

Born in the Bronx to Walter Hall and Helen Mazzarella, she was a beloved twin sister.  She graduated from Evander Childs High School in the Bronx and soon went on to meet her husband James (Jimmy) Caparis.  Jimmy had grown up in Pelham and together they decided to raise their only daughter Laurie in that same community.

Helen relished the various roles she played in her family.  First, as a twin sister to Barbara Hall.  Second, as a mother to Laurie.  Her love of family expanded to include Laurie’s husband Paul Rebholz, and Barbara’s wife Michele Katz.  She truly didn’t think she could love anyone more until her two grandsons, James and Jason, were born.   Lastly, her dog Molly was the light of her life and certainly considered family.

The only thing that came close to her love of family was her love of golf.  After spending many years enjoying the sport of tennis with friends at the Pelham Country Club, Helen followed in her twin sister’s footsteps and became an avid golfer much later in life.  She remained a resident of Pelham for over 50 years, allowing her to be close to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons right up until the end.

Helen is survived by her sister, Barbara Hall (Michele Katz), daughter Laurie Rebholz (Paul), grandsons James and Jason, cousin Ernestine Hess, and her daughter Samantha Havens.  May she find peaceful rest alongside her Molly.
