Fabian A. Brown, Sr.

March 18, 1928 — June 19, 2023

Mount Vernon, NY

Psalm 46:1 reads God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Fabian Antonio Brown Sr., a resident of the
Wartburg Senior Living complex, Mt. Vernon, NY., affectionately known as Papa Brown or
Rough but Regular, announces his passing. Mr. Brown departed our world peacefully on June 19,
2023, a quiet Juneteenth early morning, to embark on a journey to meet his friends Jesus Christ
and Papa Dios. He died at the age of 95-year-old.

Fabian Brown Sr. leaves to mourn his loving wife, Marta; his two sisters, Grace Brown, and
Alma Jones; his six sons and their wives: Fabian Jr. & Marisol, Esteban & Sandra, Vicente and
Maribel, Ernesto and Janet, Carmelo and Elvia, and Mauricio. 4 Grandsons, 6 Granddaughters,
18 plus Great-Grands, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended families too
numerous to mention.

Fabian Brown Sr. was born on March 18, 1928, in Almirante, Bocas del Toro, Republic of
Panama, to the late James A. Brown and Gertrude Newland.

Fabian Sr. met the love of his life Marta Jose who he later married in the province of Bocas del
Toro. Their union flourished over 70 years. Together they raised their six (6) boys.

Fabian Sr. later relocated his family to the Capital of Panama, Panama City, and lived in various
"pueblos," Parke LeFevre and Villa Guadalupe. They moved many times moving from the
country to the city. Papa always ensured his sons attended school and got a good education. Our
father's  motto was "Practice to become perfect."

Papa Brown migrated to New York State in 1970 and became a citizen of the United States of
America in 1978. He believed in equal rights and better working conditions; hence, he joined the
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union as a Journeyman and was a
dedicated union member. Our father was so resourceful that he taught himself the electrical
profession from his youth. Papa Brown worked as an electrician for many years in NYC.

After working hard for many years, Fabian Sr., and Marta both had the privilege to retire and
enjoy life as an adventure. They journeyed to Florida for thirteen (13) blissful years. Then, they
traveled back home to Panama for three (3) years and then back to the Big Apple.

Papa Brown's hobbies were traveling, visiting the Casinos, cooking, celebrating holidays, family
gatherings, and Mexican music. He enjoyed attending catholic mass.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Joyce, Zita, Faye, Tira Maria, Gladstone,
Vincent, Alvin, Robert, Francisco, and Armodio.

Fabian Sr. is and always will be a well-loved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and
teacher.

May his soul rest in peace and rise in perpetual glory.
