Elizabeth May Vero (Aunt Betty — Betty Boop), died on March 31, 2012 at the NYS Veteran's Home in Montrose, NY. She was 90. Born March 1, 1922 — Bridgeport, CT. Daughter of the late Joseph T. Vero & Grace M. (Bickford) Vero, sister of the late Loretta A. Davenport. Survived by nieces, Sandra Cuttitto & Diane Rizzo, nephew, David J. Davenport and great nephews, George Cuttitto & Joseph Rizzo.

Elizabeth grew up in Bridgeport, CT graduated from Bassick High School, and later enlisted in the Navy doing her United States Naval Basic Training at the Kingsbridge Armory in the Bronx. She proudly served her country as a Wave during WWlI as a physiotherapist in the Bethesda Naval Hospital. Elizabeth lived in Mt. Vernon, Peiham, and the Bronx; she worked in retail for Macy's Department Stores and went on to provide child care and home health as a career.

Never having her own children, Aunt Betty enjoyed being a second mother to her nieces, nephews and great nephews. She took care of everyone; however, she especially enjoyed caring for babies, children, and animals, especially cats. Elizabeth spent the last years of her life living at the NYS Veteran's Home in Montrose and her family would like to express gratitude for the wonderful care she received and the friends she made.

Visiting hours will be at the Pelham Funeral Home on Wednesday Morning from 9-lOam followed by Funeral Mass at St. Catharine's Church, Pelham, NY at 10:30am. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in her memory to North Shore Animal League of America, www.animalleague.org/ support.
