Douglas Morgan

Douglas Morgan of New Rochelle, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. He was 75 years old. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Douglas was the beloved son of Irwin and Irene Morgan. He was one of two children. Douglas graduated from Mepham High School before continuing his education at New York University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1973. He later received a Master of Science in Education from Brooklyn College. A dedicated educator, Douglas devoted more than 25 years to shaping the lives of young people through the New York City Department of Education. He taught at Lincoln High School in Brooklyn from 1986 until his retirement in 2008.

Known for his patience, intelligence, and commitment to his students, he found great fulfillment in helping others learn and succeed. Beyond his career, Douglas had a lifelong passion for travel, embracing opportunities to explore the world. His adventures took him throughout Asia, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean, where he delighted in experiencing new cultures and meeting new people. Time spent in the Caribbean as an adult provided the opportunity to become a PADI certified scuba diver at the age of 50.

Douglas had a profound love of nature. He spent hours caring for his garden each day and ensuring the bird feeders were always stocked at his home on Staten Island. His love for animals and years of caring for his own beloved cat, Trouble, led him to generously volunteer with the Staten Island Council for Animal Welfare. Douglas shared a wonderful marriage with the love of his life, Maria Delli Paoli Morgan. Together they built a beautiful family centered on love, respect, and unwavering support. He was the proud father of his daughter, Dr. Samantha Morgan, and nothing brought him greater joy than being a grandfather to his cherished granddaughters. Family was the center of Douglas' life, and he treasured every moment spent with those he loved.

Douglas will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, informative wisdom, and deep love for his family, his students, and the animals he cared for. His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched throughout his lifetime. Douglas is survived by his wife Maria Morgan, his daughter Dr. Samantha Morgan, his son in law Mr. Ross Ballot, and his two wonderful granddaughters.
