Dorothy T. Papa (Winter) passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, after a brief illness. Dorothy (Dotty) was born on September 13, 1934 in the Bronx, NY and was one of 5 children born to Anna (Feil) and William Winter. Dorothy's siblings have predeceased her. In 1953 Dorothy married Alex Papa (who predeceased her in 2012) and eventually settled in Pelham Manor, NY which remained their home while building their family. Dorothy and Alex had 7 children, Ann Alpiar (Rick) of New Rochelle, NY, Theresa Cole (Jim) of Middletown, NY, Nancy Mann (Sherman) of Otisville, NY, Richard (Stephanie) of Brookfield, CT, Robert (Yrannia) of the Dominican Republic, Diane Maclean (Rod) of Gilbert, AZ and Elizabeth McGowan (Jack) of Burlington, CT. Dorothy and Alex were blessed with 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, which she loved dearly.
Dorothy, Alex and their family enjoyed yearly vacations in Florida and summers at their home in Otisville.NY. An avid reader, card player and die hard Yankees fan, her life was filled with family, friends and much laughter. They were members of the New York Athletic Club and were embedded in their community through her work at the Pelham Manor Police Department. Dorothy spent many years crossing students at Prospect Hill Elementary School as well as Siwanoy Elementary School until her retirement in 2012. Dorothy was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Pelham Manor.
Please join the family at Pelham Funeral Home where visitation will be in October 17, 2025 between the hours of 4:00PM and 7PM. A mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Saturday October 18th at 9AM with interment following at St Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx. Refreshments and small bites will follow at the home of Ann and Rick Alpiar.
