SERRARO, DOMINICK
Dominick Serraro of Pelham, New York passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5th, 2013 at the age of 93. Dominick was bom in Mt. Vernon, NY on November 16, 1919 to Angela Marie Poda and Francesco Serraro. Dominick served in the U.S. Army during World War II, his courage eaming him a Bronze Star. It was during the war that Dominick met and fell in love with a British nurse, Joan May Carr. The war ended but their romance endured and Dominick went on to marry his sweetheart. ThroughOut his life, Dominick chose to lead by example. He was a devoted employee of Royal Service Laundry, Globe Vending, and Larchmont Umousine Service. In his free time, Dominick enjoyed bowling, riding his bike on the Jersey boardwalk, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. His greatest accomplishment was teaching the values of kindness, compassion, and hard work through how he chose to live his life.

Dominick is survived by his devoted children Geraldine, Barbara, Frank Serraro and his wife Meg, and David Serraro and his wife Betty Lou; his cherished grandchildren Doreen, Vicki, Eddie, J.P., Melissa, David, Jillian, and Allison; and his beloved eight great grandchildren and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Joan, his sister Mary and brothers Carmine, Joe, and Pat.

Visiting hours for Dominick will be on Monday, July 8th from 2 to 5 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m. at Pelham Funeral Home, Pelham, NY. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9th at St. Catharine's Church, 25 Second Avenue, Pelham, NY. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, New Rochelle, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
