Catherine DeVita

Catherine Mary DeVita of Pelham Manor passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016. She was 70 years old.
 
Catherine was born in Canarsie, Brooklyn in 1946 and graduated from The Samuel J. Tilden School in Brooklyn, NY.
At the age of 22, she married Daniel DeVita, a boy she had known from childhood. The pair would be married for 48 happy years. Together they raised their daughter, Danielle, and son Jack.
 
Her caring nature as a wife and mother spilled over into her work as a teacher's aid at Pelham Memorial High School. Catherine would work at PMHS for 19 years assisting kids and becoming part of the lives of countless students.
 
Catherine is survived by her loving husband, Dan and their two children: Danielle & Jack. She will be greatly missed by her 6 grandchildren: Jack, James, Vincent, Marcus, Amelia and Jacob. Catherine is predeceased by her sister, Carole.
 
A celebration of Catherine's life will be held at Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham, NY on Tuesday, April 5th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 6th at 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in 559 Pelham Manor Road, Pelham Manor, NY.  Burial will follow at St Johns Cemetery in Queens.
