Carmela Mamone

Carmela Mamone of Pelham, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. She was 98 years old.

Carmela was born in Fabrizia, Italy, to Achille and Antonietta Andrello. She was one of five siblings.

While still living in Italy, Carmela met the love of her life, Anthony Mamone. Together they began a life devoted to family, eventually emigrating first to Canada and later to the United States in search of greater opportunities and a brighter future for their four children.

A devoted wife and loving mother, Carmela dedicated her life to caring for her family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by her endless love, warmth, and guidance.

Using her remarkable talent as a skilled seamstress and dressmaker, Carmela helped provide for her family while creating beautiful garments with care and precision.

Carmela will be fondly remembered for her incredible Italian cooking, which brought family and friends together around her table, as well as for her love of gardening. She took great pride in nurturing both her garden and the people she loved.

A faithful parishioner of St. Catherine's Parish, Carmela's Catholic faith remained a constant source of strength throughout her life. Even when she could no longer attend church, she faithfully watched the Catholic Mass each day.

Known for her kind heart and welcoming spirit, Carmela made friends wherever she went and was dearly loved by her neighbors and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Carmela is survived by her loving children, Anna and Anthony (Joanne); her six cherished grandchildren, Lucia, Gina, Anthony, Joseph, Anthony J., and Michael; and her nine adored great-grandchildren, all of whom will continue to carry her love and legacy in their hearts.

Carmela is predeceased by her husband, Anthony and her two sons, Mario and Luciano.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

A Celebration of  Maria's life will be held at Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York, on Tuesday August 4, 2026, between the hours of  4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 575 Fowler Avenue, Pelham Manor, New York, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne NY.
