Bonnie Markey, formerly of Pelham Manor, NY, died peacefully on November 1, 2025 after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Although the disease diminished her faculties, her deep love and devotion for her family and friends remained intact until the end. Her caring spirit was unwavering. Bonnie was born on February 19, 1944, in Shaker Heights, OH, where she grew up with her brother, Robert Markey. She graduated from Chatham College in 1966 and went on to earn her Masters Degree of Social Work from Columbia University in 1970. She married Roger Seasonwein in 1968 and they raised their two children, Heather and Matthew, together in Pelham, New York. After divorcing in 1981, Bonnie re-entered the work force and obtained a position as a social worker at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY. Though she loved having been a homemaker for 13 years, this was the beginning of a long and meaningful career. Eventually she found her passion as a hospice social worker at Jansen Hospice & Palliative Care and brought much comfort and compassion to patients receiving palliative care and to their families. Bonnie was beloved by her co-workers and known for her commitment, kindness and thoughtful approach. She made friends wherever she went. In later years, she resided in Ossining with her partner, Jeffrey Goldstein. She adored his two daughters and their children. When she retired, she continued to be of service to others by holding various volunteer positions, including co-facilitating a cancer support group for women with ovarian cancer, reading to children in an ESL program and working at a food pantry. Above all, Bonnie took the greatest joy in being a nurturing mother and doting grandma. Bonnie is survived by her daughter Heather, son Matthew and his wife, Aimee, and her cherished grandchildren, Randall and Sam Walker, Parker and Anna Seasonwein, as well as her nephews, Randy and Rob Markey and their families, and sisters-in-law, Nancy Markey and Carol Markey. She was predeceased by her parents Rhoda and Nate Markey, and her brother Robert Markey. Bonnie will be deeply missed. Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff and personal care attendants at the Ambassador in Scarsdale who provided such wonderful and compassionate care. The family will be holding a private celebration of her life. In remembering Bonnie, please send donations to Jansen Hospice & Palliative Care in Scarsdale, NY or to your local food pantry.
