Anthony Senerchia

Anthony Senerchia of Pelham Manor, New York, passed away on December 2, 2025. He was 84 years old. Born in Avellino, Italy, to Nicola and Maria Senerchia, Anthony was the middle of their three children. He spent his early years in Avellino before immigrating with his family to Mount Vernon at the age of 15. He attended Edison High School, graduating in 1960.

After high school, Anthony enlisted in the United States Navy. He always said they were the greatest days of his life. He served aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) during the Cold War, often spending up to 60 days at sea without seeing land. One of the highlights of his service was meeting President John F. Kennedy during the ship’s christening. In 1963, shortly after returning from sea, Anthony met the love of his life, Rosa, in Yonkers. Having first seen a photograph of her at her cousin’s home, he asked to be introduced—an introduction that would change his life.

Anthony and Rosa married on February 12, 1966, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Yonkers. They made their home in Mount Vernon, where they raised three of their four children before later settling in Pelham, where their youngest child was born. The year 1966 was an important one for Anthony, as it was also when he founded Homeowners Electric in Mount Vernon. His work ethic was unmatched. In addition to his electrical business, he owned a laundromat and several rental properties.

Anthony was also dedicated to preserving his cultural heritage. He served as the first president of the Andretta Cultural Society Club, helping to build a community for fellow Italian immigrants. In 1979, he founded the Senerchia Hunting Camp in East Taconic, Columbia County—an enduring place of tradition, camaraderie, and countless memories for family and friends.

In his limited free time, Anthony enjoyed hunting and spending time in Columbia County, as well as fishing. Above all, he was a devoted family man who cherished every moment with his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren.

Anthony will be remembered for his humor, his hard work, his wisdom, and his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Though occasionally stubborn, he possessed an exceptionally big heart.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosa, and his children Nick (Rita) Senerchia, John (Tracee) Senerchia, and Joseph (Kirsten) Senerchia. He will be deeply missed by his eleven grandchildren: Gina (Chris) Mappa, Anthony, Rachel, Thomas, Nicholas, Sara, Isabella, Taya, Mia, Joseph, and Sebastian Senerchia. He was predeceased by his son Anthony (Jeanette) Senerchia Jr. and by his sisters Rosa Palmieri and Filomena Senerchia. Anthony leaves behind a legacy of love and will be missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Anthony’s life will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York, on Thursday, December 4, from 3:00–8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, December 5, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Interment will take place at Ferncliff Cemetery.
