Alice Bowling

Alice Freida Bowling was born in Marion, North Carolina on October 7, 1934 to the late Foster Lattimore and Thelma Rutherford Hunt. After a courageous battle with Cancer, she departed this life on Monday, November 16, 2015, at Calvary Hospital in Bronx, New York. Alice was raised in Pelham and Mount Vernon, New York where she attended Pelham High School and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1952.
Alice married Phillip A. Bowling on February 28, 1955 and raised four children in Mount Vernon, New York. The last 21 years of her life before retiring, she worked as a Secretary for Chase Bank in White Plains, New York. Alice resided in Mount Vernon, New York until she moved to Gastonia, North Carolina for a number of years. After the passing of her husband, Phillip, in April 2000, she returned to the New York area where she lived in Poughkeepsie, New York. In June 2012 she moved to Pelham, New York where she resided with her daughter Thelma Bowling.
Alice was a wonderful wife to her late husband Phillip A. Bowling, a dedicated mother to her four children and doting grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves to mourn her four children, Thelma Bowling and Phyllis Boyd who reside in Westchester County, New York, Jeryl and her husband Alvon Johnson who reside in Bronx County, New York, and Phillip A. Bowling, Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Dutchess County, New York. Alice will be missed by her brother Foster Lattimore and sister-in-law Jean Lattimore of Deltona, Florida and her sister Louise Marrow. She also leaves eight grandchildren: Tajian Jones, Kenneth Stevenson, Michael Harris, Christopher Boyd, Shelby Boyd, Phillip Bowling, III, Breanna Smith and Taishaun Bowling, a host of great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be lovingly remembered by her beloved niece Toni Todd and lifelong friend Barbara White.
Alice spent many happy hours doing some of her favorite activities such as cooking, baking, sewing, traveling and having fun with family and friends. She loved people and in return was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Red Hats organization. She will be remembered for her loving and giving ways. Alice was also a pet lover and had an extended family of cats that she gave much love to and kept her company. She loved her cats so much that she has a great cat collection that she display at home and were sharing that collection with you so please take a moment to see it on your way out. The collection is very nice and she really enjoyed collecting those figurines.
A Celebration of Alice's life will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, November 27th. A Service will follow at 11:00 at the Funeral Home. Interment will be directly following the service at White Plains Cemetery, White Plains, NY.
