Albert L. Marino

January 29, 1930 — August 31, 2022

Dr. Albert L. Marino passed away peacefully in his home on August 31, 2022. He was 92 years old. Albert was born on January 29, 1930 to Jack and Vera Marino in Bronx, NY. He graduated from Christopher Columbus High School and Fordham University. He briefly delayed his studies to serve in the US Army during the time of the Korean War. A man of strength and determination, he then ventured off to pursue his goal to study medicine at the University of Bologna in Italy. He was accompanied by his beloved bride Adeline and soon thereafter was blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Upon returning to the States, the family became complete with the addition of three more children.

As Albert's family grew, so flourished his career as a physician. He built a pediatric practice in the Morris Park section of the Bronx where he remained until his retirement in 2004. He was honored with a recognition award for his 40 years of service to Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center (now known as Montefiore - Wakefield). He enjoyed mentoring medical students both at OLOM and Albert Einstein Hospital. Over the years he became known for providing gentle and compassionate care, and offered infinite patience and wisdom while doing so. Dr. Marino was beloved by colleagues and generations of patients.

Albert's happiest times were spent enjoying everyday life and simple pleasures together with his wife and children in their Pelham Manor home. Whether it was making daily drop offs at school or train station, helping with homework, preparing a special weekend breakfast, sitting down to Sunday pasta, taking a family ride or planning vacations, he derived much pride and happiness in fulfilling his calling as husband and father. Albert's devotion to family extended to his parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, old friends and neighbors alike. He was humble, generous, and kind, and was always eager to help when called upon.

Albert had a fond appreciation of music which he imparted to the younger generation. He enjoyed playing the mandolin and violin while Adeline, family, and friends sang along at many celebrations. In his younger days, he was an energetic dance partner and he maintained his signature dance moves at a slightly slower pace right through his 92nd birthday! Albert was resilient, and despite Adeline's untimely passing, he carried on family traditions and celebrations in her honor for many years thereafter. In his later years he was able to enjoy new energy and novel celebratory experiences that were ushered in with the arrival of his sons-in-law and grandchildren.

Albert now joins his beloved wife Adeline and daughter Carla already in heaven. He will rest with them at Beechwoods Cemetery where he served many years on the Board of Trustees. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his children Albert and Elaine Marino, Diane (and Edward) Eiler, and grandsons Matthew and Nicholas. He is further survived by his brother Eugene (Evelyn) Marino, sister Rosemarie Garri, brother-in-law Frank Garri, and by a large extended family with whom he shared cherished moments and memories.

Memorial donations may to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
